Simon trained at Toni & Guy over 20 years ago whilst also working as a make-up artist for Bobbi Brown in Harrods, which is where his love of colour developed.
He has been at Karine Jackson since 2007 and is now a Style Director and Colour Specialist at the salon, where he is particularly passionate about colour corrections. Simon says, “Because I’m a makeup artist I can show people that their skin tone will change when they change hair colour, so I enjoy talking about different ways of doing their make up.”
Simon’s skill with colour has been enhanced through a year-long course for advanced colourists on the Fellowship for British Hairdressing’s Colour Project; and he has continued to develop his styling skills with the Trevor Sorbie course – My New Hair which supports people dealing with medical hair loss. He also continues to promote and train other stylists on the sustainability and benefits of using Organic Colour Systems across the UK and Europe, and volunteered for the Look Good, Feel Better cancer charity at UCL. He has showcased his talents live on stage at Salon International London and Pro Hair Live in Manchester.
When he’s not in the salon, Simon can be found indulging his love of fashion – especially any items created by his fashion idol Vivienne Westwood; or occasionally strutting his stuff in Soho, as his drag queen alter ego, as she allows him to go wild with his hair and make-up!
Last but by no means least, we must mention Bruno – Simon’s Chihuahua/Jack Russell dog who goes (nearly) everywhere with him and is the light of his life!
