Liesl van Kervel

I’ve had a passion for the beauty industry from a very young age, painting my mum and aunts’ nails. By the age of fifteen I’d decided that this would be my chosen profession and started researching the best “schools” in town.

Teachers and careers guidance councillors at school were hell bent on me going down the chartered accounting route as my grades and subjects at school determined that. My stubborn streak came out and this made me more determined to follow my dream and luckily I have parents who encouraged me to follow my heart.

I studied at a technical university in Cape Town for 3 years which gave me an international qualification and in salon experience. I then worked on cruise ships, sailing the eastern and western Caribbean from the U.S  for 3 years.

I joined Karine Jackson in 2004 as a therapist, but worked hard to get promoted to Senior therapist, assistant manager and now salon manager. I’ve achieved so much in these years; I not only pride myself on my in salon treatments and ongoing training, but also my mentoring to my junior staff as they are the future.

Couldn’t live without product? Has to be Dermalogica Ultrasmoothing eye serum. It smoothes fine lines and keeps the puffiness at bay.

Best Celebrity skin? Charlize Theron is ageing gracefully. Her skin always looks radiant(apart from when she starred in “Monster”!)

Top beauty ? Don’t question it: don’t go to bed unless you’ve cleansed and moisturised!
