I thought I had quietened down, but actually I hadn’t…
The weather has been amazing! I feel like we are at the end of summer and it is only just the beginning. How exciting!
APE festival was amazing! The National played on the Saturday evening and they were fantastic.
Myself, Janette and Jacki had champagne in the afternoon and then walked over to the park, which was nearby. I loved how close home was, such an easy walk!
The next morning I was woken up early by my crazy sisters on Facetime together. It was Linda’s birthday and Michelle had been on a night shift so they were both having fun and drinking wine over Facetime. I was hungover and very tired!
I opted out of the wine as it was only 7am and I’d only gone to bed at 3am. Even though I was tired, I joined in on planning different trips we could take. Lets see which ones we actually accomplish!
I love technology, being on Facetime feels like we were all in the same room together.
Now the call was over, I had to pull my self-together as everyone was coming here for part 2 of the festival weekend (with no tents yay!!).
Jacki and I started chilling the bloody Marys and champagne just in time for our friends to arrive!
Our friend’s daughter Matilda joined us for her first live concert, she’s only 11!
We got there early so we could get a good spot and we were not disappointed. The first band we saw was Courtney Barnett, she’s from Australia! The performance was truly great, so I would recommend catching her if you can.
Throughout the day there seemed to be a running Australia theme, which was pretty cool!
Up next was Patti Smith, she opened with a poem by Allen Ginsberg – Footnote to Howl. Amazing! however my favourite moment was when Patti sang Midnight Oil’s Beds are Burning. A fantastic 80s Australian band!
What a great set by Patti! I didn’t know how Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds were going to top this. WELL THEY DID. One of my all time favourite live performances ever! He told a story, commanded the audience and Kylie Minogue appeared on stage to sing wild roses. Nick started crowd surfing and suddenly got at least 100 people up on stage with him!
It was out of this world, what a great day and night! To top it all off it was only a short walk back to our house, bliss! At this point I should have gone to bed… but we still had some dancing left in us and most importantly, there was still champagne to be drunk!
I had to be at work by 7:30 Monday morning, which was extremely difficult! We were filming the launch of our new products, which are soon to be launched in Holland and Barrett. I’m so excited for you all to try the 100% natural Blended by Beauty Kitchen.
The filming went well, however we did finish late and at this point I was super tired. Nevertheless, tonight was the L’Oréal Colour Trophy Grand Final. It was such a big event and I want to say a massive congratulations to all the winners.
On Tuesday I worked in the salon and then Wednesday was the big day… the negotiation contracts for the product launch. It was mega stressful but we got there in the end!
After a busy week at the salon I was so happy I had a Spa weekend booked! I won it in a raffle and it could not have come at a better time. I had a facial, body scrub, a swim in the pool and finished in the sauna. I had a lovely dinner and then went to bed early, it was exactly what I needed. Thank you to the team at Headmasters, I had a lovely stay.
Start of a new week and Monday night was the Salon Business Awards at the stunning Sea Containers Modrain rooftop on south bank. The venue was amazing and I had such a great time at the event!
Congratulations to all the winners.
The rest of the week wasn’t too crazy. I managed to spend some quality time with my team planning out the next 6 months.
The weekend came around and Jacki and I went out for a walk on Broadway Market then down to Columbia road. Our friend Doug joined us and I decided to cook Châteaubriand for us all. It was perfect, even if I do say so myself! Ann was working at the hospital, so after her shift she joined us. Jeff was out having dinner with Ellen but kindly popped in on the way home. Next thing you know we’re dancing round the table with another 4am finish!
It’s Monday already! Ann had bought tickets for the Ballet at the Royal Opera house for our birthdays. Swan Lake was performed and it honestly blew my mind! The music, the dancing, the venue, it was superb, I loved every minute! This was only my second time watching classical ballet; the first was 27 years ago when I saw the Nutcracker by the English National Ballet.
I remember loving that performance as well. It was on the 23rd December and it being my first Christmas away from home.
On Tuesday I met up with Tito Nath to celebrate the products being launched. Tito has been giving me business advice, which has been so valuable.
Wednesday was a very eventful day. The day started with a team breakfast in Soho, we always have such good fun. We then went to The National Portrait Gallery to admire the art. The team then headed back to the salon in the afternoon whilst I met up with Nicky Pope from Tribute Magazine. We had a lovely catch up and started securing some dates for next year. I feel so lucky to have such a varied lifestyle. Later on that day, I attended another awards ceremony, but not the usual hair events I attend. I appeared at the Economic and Social Research Council where Dr Denise Baden from Southampton Business School won her category of cutting carbon footprint in the service industry – https://esrc.ukri.org/…/cutting-carbon-footprints-in-the-s…/.
I had a great time networking, I met Helen Torley from Reuters and Julia Gillard -former Australian Prime Minster. Julia was informing me about women in high positions and the obstacles they face daily.
The sun was shining and the weekend was here and all around amazing. It was so nice to be with the Jackson family, thank you Donna and Gary!
Monday again! It was Members’ night at Wella for the Fellowship of British Hairdressing. I love seeing all the new talent emerging, it was a great evening.
Now it’s only 4 more sleeps until my holidays! Yay! I am off to travel around Italy with my school friend, Karen and her daughter Bianca, I can’t wait!
