Awards, Colour Festival, Colour Project & Moving Home!

finalist-3

Hello! It’s September already!

August was one action-filled month, starting with being shortlisted for London Hairdresser of the Year in the British Hairdressing Awards – I’m so excited!

The second round of images went off for judging so now it’s the wait until the finals on the 28th November at Grosvenor House Hotel Park Lane.  We’re taking the whole team, I think the boys have planned their outfits already, leaving us girls for dead!

At the start of August I was the mentor for the Colour Project team at the Organic Colour Systems headquarters in Lymington. It’s a beautiful area in the New Forest and close to the sea and they put me up in the Stanwell Hotel, treated Michelle Griffin (the project leader) and I to a lovely dinner.

The day was brilliant and what a fantastic team.  They had a tour of the factory and I worked with them teaching our Swirl and Saturn colour techniques. It’s great to see on Instagram how many of the team are using the techniques.

COLOUR-FESTIVALThe Colour Festival has been going on in the salon; lots of prizes were given away and it was a great atmosphere in the salon. We also raised over £400 for the Little Princess Trust which provides wigs and hair pieces to children who suffer hair loss due to cancer treatment so a huge thank you to all our kind clients for making a difference.

Mid-August saw full planning for the Fellowship for British Hairdressing Luncheon and awards begin. We had the tasting at the Dorchester and, as always, the food is going to be amazing. The table decor has been chosen and the script has been started.  5th of December is when it all happens…

On a personal note I have had a great summer whilst working but also spending time with friends, attending a yoga class (yes me quiet for 90 minutes yes 90 minutes) – not sure I can do that often but I felt amazing afterwards so I think I will give it another go. Thanks Donna! Janette hosted a BBQ but why is there no off switch when I get with the girls?! Brilliant night… I also had some fun picnics in Brockwell park with Lolly and the South London crew.

As my business is all about service I have to tell you about great service I received at the Ember Yard restaurant on Berwick St. We didn’t have a booking there as I thought I would try Duck and Rice down the road. When my 2 friends and I turned up they couldn’t find my booking and I am going to say didn’t seem to really care. I was so embarrassed, we were all but shoo’ed off. I will never go there again.

We walked down the road to Ember Yard and the waitress recognised us from last time. They were fully booked but she asked if we would mind having a drink and she would see what she could do. One cocktail later and we had a table. The service was brilliant, the food is a taste sensation and the wine recommendation was spot on. I can’t wait to go back. That is what great service is all about.

Yesterday was the F.A.M.E team semi final selection process for 2017, a huge day for the finalists. The quality of work was amazing. We’re now down to  8 and the final is held at Salon International on Monday 17th October. This is also when I get to see all the London finalist images hanging together.

After 22 years of living in South London I am going to have a change of life as I’m moving East – scary but really looking forward to discovering a new area. Watch this space.

This weekend I will be in Kingston for the lovely Grace and Alice’s 21st and 18th birthdays so looking forward to a brilliant night.

Enjoy the sunshine, while it lasts!
