Karine received her accolade on Monday 7th September at the spectacular Most Wanted Grand Final, hosted by comedian Jack Whitehall at the Natural History Museum, London, in front of a 600-strong audience of hair, fashion and media VIPs, including session hair icon Sam McKnight and Vogue’s Lauren Murdoch-Smith.
Celebrating their 15th anniversary this year, the Most Wanted Awards, presented by leading industry magazine, Creative HEAD, recognise the most outstanding individuals, teams and salons working in UK hairdressing with 11 sought-after titles. Judged by hair, fashion and business experts including A-list hairdresser Adam Reed, Beauty Director of In Style, Cassie Steer and the founders of BeautyMART, Millie Kendall MBE and Anna-Marie Solowij, the awards celebrate absolute excellence.
Karine fought off tough nationwide competition to win HAIR TREND. Her stunning photographic entry demonstrated technical skill and commercial awareness with an image that’s bang on trend for 2015, sealing it as the judges’ favourite. Becci Vallis, freelance Beauty Editor and Most Wanted judge said of Karine’s entry: “Super striking. The tones, the blunt cut, the white grey on black. I feel it captures a trend and could easily be seen on the pages of a glossy [magazine]”, while Director of Premier Hair & Makeup, Lindsay Cruikshank, commented: “The whole image has been really well executed.”
Of her win, Karine says “It was amazing to even be in the final 5 alongside such amazing hairdressing talent. Nothing prepares you for that moment when they call your name! It is a real honour to be recognized by your peers. I love the Creative Head Most Wanted Awards, it’s always a super fun evening and Jack Whitehall was great, he’s was completely with the industry, not just making jokes about us which I loved, as we work hard and deserve to feel proud. I’d like to thank the team who worked on the Juxtaposition collection with me as they helped to get this image right.”
Catherine Handcock, Publisher of Creative HEAD says: “Winning a Most Wanted award is a fantastic achievement – a clear sign that you’re operating at the very top of your game. Karine can look forward to a very special year ahead as her victory is celebrated in Creative HEAD and beyond!”
GET THE LOOK – SATURN COLOUR TREND
“The Saturn colour trend is a move on from dip-dye and ombre and shows a middle band of colour around the hair for a cool new look. This can be as soft or as bold as you like using lots of different complementing tones. For this image I created an extreme version of this look using black and white, but in the salon we’re making it incredibly subtle – it just adds a beautiful halo of shine to every shade.”
The Saturn Technique costs from £70-£105 in salon depending on colourist level
